With the spice of scotch, the sweetness of Oloroso sherry, the aromatic oil from an orange garnish, and the crisp bubbles of 7UP, this wintery drink will defrost you as if you’re by a crackling fire. And, yes, it will be just as delicious if you make it in July.


  • 1/2 oz. simple syrup
  • 1 oz. Oloroso sherry
  • 1 oz. scotch
  • 1/4 cup 7UP®
  • Ice
  • Orange peel, for garnish

  • Ready In: 5 minutes
  • Serving Size: 1 person


  • Combine all ingredients except 7UP®.
  • Pour over ice.
  • Fill up the rest of the glass with 7UP®.
  • Garnish with orange peel.

Curious about Oloroso sherry? Sherry is a type of wine that comes from Spain. It’s made from Palomino grapes that are fermented over different time periods, and it’s often mixed (fortified) with grape spirits, producing a more intense flavor and higher alcohol content than traditional wine. Oloroso sherry is slightly higher in alcohol content and is a darker color, due in part to its longer aging process. Sherry wine is often enjoyed as an aperitif or dessert wine.
