Mix up a Citrus Gin Fizz, made with 7UP®, today. Mix freely, drink responsibly.
1-1/2 cups 7UP®
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 orange, zested and juiced (about 1/4 cup juice)
12 oz. gin
3 oz. lemon juice
3 oz. lime juice
6 egg whites
3/4 cup heavy cream
2 tbsp. orange blossom water
1 cup ice cubes
Crushed ice for glasses
Orange peel, for garnish
Prepare orange syrup by placing 1 cup 7UP®, 1/4 cup sugar, orange zest, and orange juice in a saucepan. Bring mixture to a boil, reduce to a simmer, and cook until syrupy, about 5-10 minutes (you should be left with about 1/2 cup). Set aside to cool.
To prepare Gin Fizzes, place egg whites and orange blossom water into a blender, and blend on high until whipped and frothy, about 20-30 seconds. Add in 1/2 cup cubed ice, and blend again on high. With motor running, stream in heavy cream until silky and smooth in consistency. Set aside.
In a cocktail mixing glass (or a measuring cup), stir cooled syrup, gin, lemon juice, and lime juice along with remaining 1/2 cup cubed ice. Pour into six collins glasses filled halfway with crushed ice. Top with frothy egg white mixture, fill each glass with remaining 1/2 cup 7UP®, and garnish with orange peel.
Traditionally Gin Fizzes aren’t served over ice. We like a bit chillier beverage, but feel free to leave it out.
